Securing the Future of Wildlife in Greater Yellowstone

Yellowstone is home to the magnificent grizzly bear, the elusive mountain lion and wolverine and, after a 60-year absence, the gray wolf. Across the ridges and valley floors of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, tracks reveal seven species of native ungulates — moose, bighorn sheep, mule deer, white-tailed deer, pronghorn antelope, tens of thousands of elk, and America’s last continuously wild population of bison. Bald eagles and trumpeter swans are among 300 species of birds in this remarkable region.[More]

In the Media

Aug 14, 2008 - Enviros, property owners seek to enter bison suit (Associated Press) - GYC and eight property owners are intervening in court to prevent the Montana Stockgrowers Association from forcing bison off private lands near West Yellowstone where the shaggy beast is welcome -- and there are no cattle in the area.

Aug 13, 2008 - Don't change the ESA through the back door (Casper Star Tribune) -

Aug 10, 2008 - Time to bear down on Elk Refuge feeding phase out (Casper Star Tribune) - In the 1970s, calls to end dumpster and roadside feeding of bears elicited howls of dissent from those who argued it would be a disaster for grizzlies. Today, nobody would argue for the for a return to feeding -- a lesson we should carry over to the National Elk Refuge.
