GYC Annual Meeting 2009: Jackson Lake Lodge, Wyoming Forecast: Sunny and Warm! |
The weather outside was frightful,
but the ambience inside the Union Pacific Dining Hall was delightful,
the speakers insightful
and the field trips a sight full.
Close to 300 members convened June 6-7 in snowy West Yellowstone to help GYC celebrate its 25th anniversary. The highlight of our Annual Meeting was the keynote address by former Montana congressman Pat Williams, who praised GYC for continuing a great ecosystem conservation ethic that dates to the time of the Sheepeater Indians.
Attendees also were riveted to a cadre of compelling speakers who espoused a theme that will be rising to the forefront of GYC’s conservation efforts: Connectivity for wildlife. In the end, members departed one of the more memorable meetings proud of GYC’s accomplishments over the past 25 years and inspired to continue protecting this wondrous ecosystem for the next 25.
As for the weather, well, as Chicago Cubs fans are fond of saying: Wait ’til next year (at Jackson Lake Lodge)!
Online Registration begins in March 2009.
